Issue/Introduction

During the process of performing an NSX upgrade, the Start Update button within the NSX Managers tab of the Upgrade Manager is observed to be grayed out.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center
VMware NSX

Cause

  • Precheck reported errors on NSX prepared hosts and on NSX manager.
  • In this case following error was reported on NSX prepared hosts: “ DRS should be Enabled and Fully automated for the cluster containing host"
  • Following error was reported on NSX manager nodes: “The certificate with id ######-####-####-####-########## failed to parse with error: null. Please delete (if unused) or replace this certificate prior to upgrading.”
  • The upgrade process was blocked and the "Start Upgrade" button was greyed out because these identified host and manager errors were not remediated before proceeding with the upgrade.

Resolution

Kindly ensure all the errors reported during NSX upgrade precheck are addressed and resolved before proceeding with the upgrade.
