Issue/Introduction

VxRail plugin within vCenter displayed the following error message:

"Failed to find a matching root CA certificate/CRL set that could verify vCenter certificate. Certificate validation failed. A possible cause is that not all certificates in the chain are added to the vCenter trusted root store."

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 7.x

VMware vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

The connection failure was caused by an incomplete or mismatched Certificate Authority (CA) chain within the vCenter trusted root store. VxRail Manager requires a valid, trusted "chain of trust" to communicate securely with vCenter.

Resolution

Reset all the Trusted Root Certificates using vCert or Certificate Manager
