Issue/Introduction

IP addresses are not displayed in the "Virtual Machine Details" section of a virtual machine's Summary tab in the vSphere Client.  

Environment

vCenter Server 8.x  

Cause

When the VMware Tools service within the guest OS is stopped or the guest OS is unresponsive, vCenter Server cannot retrieve IP address information via VMware Tools. 
As a result, the information is not populated in the "Virtual Machine Details" pane.  

Resolution

If the guest OS is unresponsive, restart the virtual machine.  
If the guest OS is running, verify if restarting the VMware Tools service within the guest OS resolves the issue.
