  • This article introduces the new vSAN Health check 'vSAN client cluster health check' in vSAN and provides details on why it might report the error and how to fix the error state.

Q: What does the 'vSAN client cluster health check' check do? 

  • This check is verify health state of each vSAN client cluster in upgrade precheck of this vSAN server cluster.
  • This is to avoid potential risks in upgrading this server cluster when its vSAN client cluster is unhealthy.
  • The following vSAN health checks will be performed on the client clusters to verify health state:
Health Check Name
All hosts have a vSAN vmknic configured
Hosts disconnected from VC
Hosts with connectivity issues
vSAN: Basic (unicast) connectivity check
vSAN: MTU check (ping with large packet size)
Server Cluster Partition

 

Q: What does it mean when it is in an error state?

  • If this test returns red, it means one of its vSAN client clusters is unhealthy. 

Q: How does one troubleshoot and fix the error state?

  1. Navigate to vSAN Health tab of this unhealthy vSAN client cluster.
  2. Remediate all health issues reported for this vSAN client cluster. Refer to the table above for specific health checks performed.
