Resolution

Q: What does the 'vSAN object policy health' check do? 

  • Check for vSAN object policy issues, such as the compliant status between cluster configuration and policy rules, compatibility check between the policy rules and vSAN version, etc. 

Q: What does it mean when it is in an error state?

  • If the health check state is unhealthy, it indicates that the current object policy may not be optimal.
  • It is recommended to follow the troubleshooting guide to ensure optimal performance and data availability.

Q: How does one troubleshoot and fix the error state?

  • This health check will report an alert when the following issues have been detected:
Issue Health State Troubleshooting Steps
Some objects are detected to be applied with the "vSAN ESA Auto RAID Policy" which is only applicable for vSAN 9.1 or higher versions WARNING
  • Replace the "vSAN ESA Auto RAID Policy" and specify the failure tolerance rule manually.
  • If this is a client cluster and the server cluster is vSAN 9.1 or higher versions, you can enable "Apply Auto-RAID to all objects" on server cluster and continue to use the "vSAN ESA Auto RAID Policy" on client cluster.

OR

  • Upgrade the cluster to vSAN 9.1 or higher versions and then re-apply the "vSAN ESA Auto RAID Policy" to the objects.
The "vSAN ESA Auto RAID Policy" is not applied to any objects INFO
  • Apply the "vSAN ESA Auto RAID Policy" to all objects for optimal performance and data availability
The "3 failures - RAID-1 (Mirroring)" policy will be deprecated INFO
  • Replace with the "vSAN ESA Auto RAID Policy" for optimal performance and data availability
