Issue/Introduction

In environments with multiple nas instances, there may be a need for customers to copy rules and scripts from one nas instance to another, e.g., multiple nas instances or high availability or distributing nas workload.

Environment

  • DX UIM 23.4 CU6

Cause

  • nas guidance
  • configuration

Resolution

nas 'scripts' and 'auto_operator' (rules) can be copied/replicated from one nas.cfg to another, e.g., secondary hub with a nas.

nas Auto Operator (AO) rules

- Deactivate nas
- Copy the <auto_operator> configuration section from the source nas.cfg to the secondary hub nas
- Activate nas

Note that one or more AO rules may have been configured to use/run scripts.

nas replication (allows you to copy Scripts to another nas)

Scripts
Select if you want scripts available on the nas also be available for the destination nas defined.

  • None means not available for the destination alarm server defined.
  • Private means that scripts will be available on the destination nas defined, but it can not be modified there (no write access).
  • Shared means that scripts will be available on the destination nas defined, in the same script structure as the source nas, and it is possible to modify the script. Changes will be mirrored between the two nas’s.

Manual copy option

nas Scripts

- Deactivate nas, backup any existing scripts, copy the scripts folder from the source nas, e.g., ...\Program Files (x86)\Nimsoft\probes\service\nas\scripts
- Activate nas

nas Pre-processing

Note that the nas Auto Operator Pre-processing rules are contained in the nas.cfg under the <filters> section. Therefore, they can be copied as well.

- Deactivate nas
- Copy the <filters> configuration section from the source nas.cfg to the secondary hub nas
- Activate nas

IMPORTANT:

Keep in mind that any commands, scripts, or custom Pre-processing rules may have dependencies that need to be addressed or adjusted, e.g., the existence of a script, alarms, the same or similar command based on the system OS, command(s), paths, etc. Pre-processing filter types such as Exclude, Custom, Transaction, or Invisible are described here.

Additional Information

If some some reason you need to be able to use copy and paste to copy all nas auto (AO) operator profiles and/or preprocessing rules into a spreadsheet, e.g., for reference, please refer to this article:
