How to perform a fresh install of UIM 23.4 and upgrade to the latest Cumulative Update (CU)

Issue/Introduction

Planning to install a new instance of UIM on a new platform and requires clarification on the correct installation path to reach the latest version. Specifically, they have noted multiple Cumulative Updates (CU) and need to know which version supports a fresh installation versus which must be applied as an upgrade.

Resolution

To reach the latest version of UIM 23.4, you must follow a two-step installation path:

1. Fresh Installation: Perform a new installation using either the UIM 23.4 GA or UIM 23.4 CU5 installers. Both versions support a clean, "fresh" install on a new platform.
2. Apply Cumulative Update: Once the base installation is complete, apply the latest UIM 23.4 Cumulative Updates to reach the latest version.

As of February 2026, UIM 23.4 CU6 is the latest version, it is an upgrade-only release. You must first install a base version (such as 23.4 GA or 23.4 CU5) and then apply the CU6 update.
