Issue/Introduction

The diagnostics command is used to generate a diagnostics package that Broadcom Support can use to analyze and troubleshoot issues with the product.

This command collects configuration data, logs, crash information, and other relevant system details, and optionally transfers the generated package to a remote location using SCP or FTP.

Resolution

Basic Command

diagnostics [options] url

If a valid URL is specified without options, the following data is collected by default:

  • Configuration data

  • Five most recent core directories per job (excluding core files)

  • Log data (up to 100,000 lines per log file)

Supported protocols: scp, scprsa, ftp

scp://'user':'password'\@host[:port]/path

Notes:

  • Quote usernames or passwords that contain special characters.

  • If the path ends with /, the default file name is used.

  • FTP uses anonymous login if no credentials are specified.

Example

Generate diagnostics and copy them to a remote system using SCP:

diagnostics scp://'support'@x.x.x.x/tmp/
