Issue/Introduction

Users may need to decommission a VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (ASL) appliance due to environment consolidation, hardware refresh, or a complete redeployment of the Aria Suite. Simply deleting the virtual machine from vCenter without following the proper clean-up steps can leave stale registrations and orphan objects within the integrated products and vCenter inventory.

Resolution

To ensure a clean decommission of the Aria Suite Lifecycle (ASL) appliance and prevent stale metadata, follow these steps in order:

  1. Delete Products: Navigate to Lifecycle Operations > Environments, select your environment, and choose Delete Product from the product tile's vertical ellipsis.

  2. Delete Environments: Once empty, click the vertical ellipsis on the environment card and select Delete Environment.

  3. Remove vCenter Associations: Go to Lifecycle Operations > Data Centers and remove the associated vCenter Server(s).

  4. Appliance Removal: Power off the ASL VM in vCenter and select Delete from Disk.
