The following error is displayed in the NSX UI:
Error: IpAddressPool /infra/ip-pools/[Pool-Name] is either referenced by segments, or has child IP allocations or subnet objects that need be deleted first.
The error specifically identifies references within host-transport-nodes as the blocking dependency.
VMware NSX
The IP Pool cannot be removed because active references exist in the management plane.
These references typically point to Host Transport Nodes that are still utilizing the pool for TEP (Tunnel Endpoint) IP assignment.
The system prevents deletion to avoid breaking connectivity for existing transport nodes.
1. Navigate to the Host Transport Node configuration within the NSX Manager.
2. Identify all Transport Nodes or Clusters currently assigned to the specific IP Pool.
Warning: Changing the IP Pool configuration will cause all hosts in the cluster to lose their Overlay (TEP) IP addresses.
Ensure that the deletion of an active IP Pool is treated as a planned maintenance activity to avoid unexpected network downtime.
3. Reconfigure the affected Transport Nodes to use an alternative IP Pool, a Static IP List, or DHCP.
4. Verify that all IP Allocations and Subnet Objects associated with the pool have been fully cleared.
5. Once all active references and child objects are removed, proceed with deleting the IP Address Pool from the UI.
