To optimize VKS cluster management Data Protection performance and stability, support for bring-your-own (BYO) Velero package installation is now deprecated and will be ended in the next VCF 9.2 release. If you are using BYO Velero package installs, please perform the steps highlighted in this KB to remove the existing velero installation and enable VKS to deploy the Broadcom-supported Velero on your behalf.
VCF 9.1
To remove the existing velero installation and enable VKS to deploy the Broadcom-supported Velero, please do following steps:
1. (Optional) Backup your schedule configurations
2. Disable dataprotection: depending on if you want to keep backup files, you can check or not check "Destroy all backup files associated with this cluster" during the disablement.
3. Remove existing BYO velero installation manually
4. Renable dataprotection to setup Broadcom-supported Velero installation
5. (Optional) Re-create your schedule since schedules are lost
Disabling dataprotection will lose the schedules, so suggest user to backup schedules first.
Disabling dataprotection may loose backups per user's choice as mentioned in Resolution.
