Manual Removal of the HCX Sentinel Agent from Guest OS When UI Uninstall Fails

Issue/Introduction

This article provides guidance on uninstalling the Sentinel agent directly from the Guest OS for an OSAM deployment. This may be required when removal through the HCX Manager UI (Interconnect > Service Mesh > Sentinel Management), as described in the Uninstalling HCX Sentinel Agent Software documentation is not possible. For example, the UI displays the message "migration is running for this system" due to stale migration.

Resolution

For Windows Guest OS: You can uninstall the Sentinel agent through Control Panel > Programs and Features.

For Linux Guest OS: Run the Sentinel installer script with the -D option to remove the existing installation. For example:

linux-sentinel-installer.sh -D

You can also run the script with the -h option to view all available parameters.
