Although the vCenter connection is correctly configured in the HCX VAMI (https://hcx-ip-or-fqdn:9443), you may encounter an error when attempting to add a compute profile to a specific datacenter. The error message is as follows: "Selected service resource does not contain cluster or host resources."
The selected datacenter contains ESXi hosts for the compute profile; however, these hosts have not yet been organized into a cluster, and no existing clusters currently reside within the datacenter.
VMware HCX
HCX compute profile creation requires resources to be placed within a cluster. Failure to do so will prevent HCX from identifying the necessary resources, as ESXi hosts at the datacenter level are not supported for compute profiles.
To resolve this issue, please create a new cluster within the datacenter and move the ESXi hosts into it. After refreshing the HCX UI to view the new cluster, proceed with the HCX compute profile creation; this will allow the system to identify all required resources within the cluster.
