Clarity PPM On Premise Clarity PPM SaaS

Issue/Introduction

Starting 16.4.1, we have a new LATTICE (Formerly known as ICE) Registration screen in Clarity. This ensures more accurate alignment with Support and entitlements in Broadcom.

Environment

Clarity On Premise 16.4.1+

Resolution

  • The registration by administrator user is mandatory
    • Administrator must use their corporate email for the registration
    • Contractors: Should use the email address of the company where the installation is being performed. Do not use own employer's email
  • Registration is done for each Clarity installation
  • The information is only shared with Broadcom, not with any third parties
  • SaaS customers will not encounter these registration prompts as their accounts are pre-registered
  • Consult Broadcom documentation for more information

Additional Information

FAQ:

  • Once we register, will our on-prem Clarity instance be in constant communication with any third-party sites? Will any content be downloaded onto my application or servers? Are there any security concerns I need to be aware of?
    • The registration is only used by Broadcom to identify the On Premise instance. Registration of the On Premise instance does not change our patch and upgrade policy, which is still controlled by customers.
  • What is the completion time for the registration process? If I'm doing this during a Production upgrade I don't want repeated application messages popping up for my users once we go live.
    • The registration process requires the administrator to only enter their company email address and validation of that email using OTP code. This typically takes about 1-2 minutes.
  • Is there any way to pre-register my Production environment ahead of the upgrade?
    • This is possible and can be done by contacting Broadcom Support with the Clarity URL and Company Name in advance. Once pre-registered, the popup will no longer display.
  • Is there a way to disable or opt-out of registration?
    • There is no way to disable the registration, it is mandatory if you would like to remove the messages in Clarity
  • What happens if I register with an email address, then that email address becomes inactive at some point? Do I need to re-register with a new email address?
    • The registration of the On Premise instance is only done to identify the Clarity installation. Once the instance is identified, there is no need to register again
  • Will the registration email address be used for anything else?
    • The email address is only used to map to the contract/customer name to identify the Clarity instance and not used for anything else
  • If a lower environment is registered and then refreshed from PROD, do we have to register in lower environment again?
    • Once the environment is refreshed, the admin will have to register again. When URL and System IDs changes this will prompt for registrations.
  • What happens when a user has an instance registered but then go offline. If contractor that have Clarity installed on laptop, and had the system registered. Then they access their Clarity instance deployed on the same laptop offline without internet access. Would a message appear?
    • When customer goes offline - Lattice will not do anything.
  • Which Admin right is controlling if users see the admin registration?
    • Administrator, value ‘Yes/No’ is calculated based on the user having the following access rights:
    • Administration - Application Setup
    • Administration – Access
  • We don't use ICE / LATTICE, do we still have to register?
    • Broadcom Registration is mandatory and does not depend on using specific features
  • What data is being captured?
    • We are only capturing admin email to match the Clarity instance to a customer based on the email domain
  • What does the admin user see vs a non admin user.
    • Administrator will see the message ‘This Clarity Instance is Unregistered. It looks like this instance of Clarity hasn’t been registered yet! Don’t miss out on exclusive features and benefits. Register now!’ along with a ‘Register Now’ button
    • For Non-Administrators: Users without administrative privileges will see the following message: " This Clarity Instance is Unregistered. This instance of Clarity is unregistered! Don’t miss out on exclusive features and benefits. Take the next step to activate its full potential“
    • Administrator or Non-Administrator can close the message but on every refresh of the page the message will get displayed
  • Can Broadcom please elaborate on what this means to match the Clarity instance and why is it needed for lower instances?  How is Broadcom using this data?
  • In alignment with Broadcom’s internal tracking policy, we are linking all Clarity installs to verified customer accounts. This process includes all environments and data is restricted to Broadcom internal use only.
