Issue/Introduction

The VCF Usage Meter 9.0 Release Notes highlight the introduction of TLS 1.3 support as a key security enhancement following the upgrade to Photon OS v5. While the documentation emphasizes TLS 1.3 for better confidentiality, users may need to confirm whether TLS 1.2 is still supported for compatibility with existing environments.

Environment

VCF Usage Meter 9.0.x

Cause

In Usage Meter 9.0.x, TLS 1.3 was introduced to align with modern security standards. However, to ensure backward compatibility and a smooth transition for all managed environments, TLS 1.2 remains enabled.

Resolution

Both TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 are supported in Usage Meter 9.0.x by default.

While TLS 1.2 is provided to maintain compatibility with various environments, we recommend utilizing TLS 1.3 where possible to benefit from the enhanced security features mentioned in the release notes.
