Cisco Switches Not Discovering Connections via CDP in Spectrum

Issue/Introduction

Cisco Nexus switches are unable to discover or establish connections to Cisco MDS devices via Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) in Spectrum. 

Environment

 

DX NetOps Spectrum: 24.3.8

 

Cause

The failure to discover the connection from the Cisco Nexus switch to the Cisco MDS due to the Cisco MDS not supporting the CDP table and the SNMPV3 User did not have the permissions to read the ifTable so the interfaces were not discovered on the Cisco MDS due to this we were not able to create the connection.  

Resolution

The issue was resolved by giving the SNMPV3 user on the Cisco MDS device "Admin" privileges which allowed spectrum to read the ifTable and create the interfaces. Reconfiguring the device and running discover connections successfully created the connection in Spectrum.
