Issue/Introduction

  • During the bundle Precheck phase prior to an upgrade, the validation process fails.
  • The following error pattern is observed in the lcm.log: ESX_UPGRADE_VUM_CUSTOM_IMAGE_FILE_NOT_ACCESSIBLE

Environment

SDDC Manager 5.x

Cause

The vcf_lcm user does not have the required file system permissions to access the directory path specified in the customIsoAbsolutePath field within the esx-custom-image-upgrade-spec.json file.

Resolution

Referencing the "Upgrade ESXi with Custom ISOs" documentation, ensure appropriate permissions are granted to the ISO directory and file.
