After vCenter Server patching, the overallStatus of an ESXi host may change to yellow

Issue/Introduction

• The ESXi host belongs to a cluster where vSphere HA is enabled.
• Following the application of a vCenter Server patch, a reconfiguration of the vSphere HA agent is automatically triggered.
• Monitoring servers that retrieve the overallStatus property may temporarily detect a yellow state during this process.

Environment

ESXi 8.x
vCenter Server 8.x

Cause

The ESXi overallStatus changes to yellow while the vSphere HA reconfiguration process is in progress.

Resolution

This status change is temporary. Once the vSphere HA reconfiguration process completes successfully, the overallStatus will revert to green.
