Issue/Introduction

• On the NSX UI when creating a Switch IPfix profile, the following error is seen on the UI
  
  Error: The IPFIX profile only supports the Segment/Segment Port type in the Group. Please remove the unsupported types in Group [/infra/domains/default/groups/<name>] accordingly. (Error code: 506040)
  
  
• The profile has Applied to set a Group and the Group has segment as members using dynamic criteria definition e.g. tags etc

Environment

VMware NSX 4.x

Cause

Switch IPfix on NSX 4.x only supports Groups with segment or segment ports as static members. Dynamic membership is not supported.

Resolution

This is expected behaviour.

On NSX 9.x a global Switch IPfix profile can be used which includes all segments by default.

Alternatively, on NSX 4.x DFW IPfix profile supports Group dynamic membership.
