Issue/Introduction

  • On the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations console, when navigating to Administration -> SDDC Manager, the tab may fail to load, remain in a spinning state, or display an "Authorization Error: Unauthorized access."

  • The SDDC Manager Virtual Machine (VM) console displays CPU soft lockup errors similar to:

    [####.######] NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for ##s! [jsvc:####]

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations 9.x

Cause

This issue typically occurs when the SDDC Manager VM enters an unresponsive state due to resource exhaustion or a CPU soft lockup.

Resolution

  1. Reboot the SDDC Manager VM.

  2. If the issue persists after a reboot, verify that the management vCenter root account has not expired or become locked, as outlined in KB Troubleshooting SDDC Manager UI access issues.

  3. If credentials are valid but the SDDC Manager continues to experience CPU lockups, increase the allocated CPU and memory as detailed in KB Increasing the amount of CPU assigned to SDDC Manager.

  4. If the error remains unresolved after performing these steps, open a Support Request with Broadcom.
