CA API Gateway

Issue/Introduction

The ssgconfig user account is used to provide operators and administrators access to the terminal user interface (TUI) menu. This menu allows common configuration tasks to be performed without requiring administrative access to the system. This article is targeted for the most current version of the API Gateway. The process may differ for older revisions of the Gateway appliance.

Environment

All supported versions of the CA API Gateway

Resolution

  • Changing the credentials

    1. Connect to the API Gateway via a serial cable or direct console access
    2. Log in as the root user at the login prompt
    3. Execute the following command: passwd ssgconfig
    4. Provide the password to the prompt
    5. Confirm the password to the prompt

    Unlocking the user account

If invalid credentials have been provided when attempting to authenticate as the ssgconfig user then the API Gateway appliance will require that the root user unlocks the account. To do so:

    1. Connect to the API Gateway via a serial cable or direct console access
    2. Log in as the root user at the login prompt
    3. For version 10.1
      • Execute the following command: pam_tally2 --reset --user ssgconfig
    4. For version 11.0 and 11.1
      • Execute the following command: failock --reset --user ssgconfig
