Issue/Introduction

  • After rebooting the Aria Automation appliance via SSH or console, the application fails to come back up.
  • While the appliance remains accessible via the console and basic services appear to be active, the user interface (UI) remains down and inaccessible to users.

Environment

Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

Automation services do not start automatically following an appliance reboot. By design, these services are automatically restarted only when powered on via Aria Suite Lifecycle Manager (LCM), and a manual reboot of the appliance via the console does not trigger the automatic startup of the application-level services.

Resolution

To restore the UI and start the required services, you must manually run the deployment script.

  1. Log in to the VMware Aria Automation appliance as root via SSH or the console.

  2. Execute the following command to start the services:
    /opt/scripts/deploy.sh
  3. Monitor the script until completion to ensure all services are successfully deployed and the UI is reachable.

Additional Information

To cleanly reboot, it is recommended to Power off and Power on Automation via Aria Lifecycle manger, or stop the services, reboot and restart the services as per the documentation: https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/vmware-cis/aria/aria-automation/8-18/vmware-aria-automation-on-prem-administering-8-18/maintaining-your-appliance/starting-and-stopping-vrealize-automation.html
