VCF Operations

Issue/Introduction

On registering VCF Operations in the business services console and selecting 'Disconnected' as the license usage reporting mode you now wish to switch to 'Connected' mode or vice versa.

Attempts to switch reporting mode result in the error:

'Switching the reporting mode failed. Check your internet connection. If the problem persists, enter a new activation code in VCF Operations by using the Actions menu'

Environment

VCF Operations 9.x

Resolution

  1. Ensure your VCF Operations nodes can access both URLs:

    vcf.broadcom.com (443)
    eapi.broadcom.com (443)

Run the following via ssh on all the VCF Operations nodes.
    curl -v telnet://eapi.broadcom.com:443
    curl -v telnet://vcf.broadcom.com:443

  2. If your VCF Operations instance operates in disconnected mode for more than 180 days, switching from disconnected to connected might fail, and you must generate a new activation code. For information on how to generate a new activation code, see Register VCF Operations in Connected Mode.
Once generated select the 'ACTIONS' menu as shown in the screenshot above and enter the new token.

  3.  Attempt the switch to connected modes once again.
