vLCM image compliance shows non compliant with the attached Image

Issue/Introduction

Multiple hosts in cluster shows Image as non-compliant for a specific VIB, with the VIB still present on host.

Environment

  • vCenter 8.x
  • vCenter 9.x
  • ESXi 8.x
  • ESX 9.x

Resolution

In order to resolve the issue, remediate each hosts from the cluster perspective.

Remediation Steps

  1. Select the Object: Open the vSphere Client and navigate to the vLCM Cluster or specific Host.
  2. Check Compliance: Go to the Updates tab and click Check Compliance to identify "Out of Compliance" hosts.
  3. Run Pre-check: Click Pre-remediation Check to ensure there are no blockers (e.g., disconnected hosts or incompatible hardware).

Initiate Remediation:

  1. For a Cluster: Click Remediate All to update all hosts sequentially.
  2. For a Single Host: In the "Out of Compliance" list, select the host, click Actions, and select Remediate.
  3. Confirm Settings: Accept the EULA and review remediation settings, such as Quick Boot or VM migration preferences.
  4. Monitor Progress: vLCM will automatically place the host in Maintenance Mode, apply updates, reboot if necessary, and exit Maintenance Mode once compliant.
