Issue/Introduction

In VCF Operations, when you use the Fleet Management Lifecycle UI, you may find that there is no option to edit or modify an existing stored SFTP password. While the interface allows you to add and select credentials, previously saved entries cannot be updated directly.

Environment

VCF Operations 9.x

Fleet Management 9.x

Cause

This is expected behavior. The Fleet Management Lifecycle interface is designed to maintain credential integrity by requiring a new credential object for any password updates rather than allowing the modification of existing ones.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the VCF Operations UI.
  2. Navigate to the Fleet Management section.
  3. Follow the steps outlined in the official documentation to add a new SFTP backup target: Configure SFTP Backup Target in VCF Operations.
  4. During the configuration, enter the new password details to create a new credential object.
  5. Select the newly created credential for your backup task and save the changes.
