How to safely remove VCF Operation for Network collector VM/appliance

Issue/Introduction

This KB provides the steps to safely remove collector VM/Appliance from VCF Operation for Network collector GUI 

Environment

VCF Operations for Networks 6.13.0
VCF Operations for Networks 6.14.0
VCF Operations for Networks 6.14.1

Resolution

To safely remove VCF Operation for Network collector VM/appliance, perform below steps:

  1. Identify the the VCF Operation for Network collector to be removed.

  2. Ensure no datasource should be connected to the collector node, if any datasource is connected it should be removed or moved/migrated to another collector. Refer to Steps as per Migrate Data Sources to a Different Collector

  3. Ensure that syslog if configured for the VCF Operations for Networks collector should be unconfigured or deleted. See steps below:
    a. Navigate to Settings  page, under Logs, , click Syslog Configuration.
    b. The Syslog Configuration page has the configured syslog servers and their mappings to the virtual appliances listed.
    c. Delete the existing syslog mapping.
    d. After the syslog mapping are deleted you should see Syslog not configured on the UI.

  4. Now delete the colletcor(s) from VCF Operations for Networks GUI, See steps: as below:

    a. Navigate  to VCF Operations for Networks GUI by navigating to Settings>Infrastructure and support page.
    b. Shutdown the collector Node(s) which you want to remove from vCenter Power Options>shutdown guest OS.
    c.
    Now proceed to delete the VCF Operations for Networks collector(s) from GUI, to do that see the Collector table in the GUI and you will see delete icon under Actions column.
       
    Refer to below screenshot for reference showing  delete icon under Actions column:

     

  5. Now the deleted collector should now not be seen  under the collector table on the VCF Operations for Networks GUI.
