Issue/Introduction

When attempting to configure the Embedded VCF Single Sign-On (SSO) in VCF Operations 9.0.x, the process fails:

Saving configuration settings failed with the following error:

Service "VIDB" is not available. Please try again in 5 minutes

Environment

VCF Operations 9.0.x

Cause

The issue is typically caused by the vmware-trustmanagement service being in a stopped or StartPending state.
This service is a critical component for managing the trust relationships and security tokens required for the VCF Identity Broker to function. If this service is not running, VCF Operations cannot finalize the SSO handshake or establish a connection with the embedded identity source.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, manually start the vmware-trustmanagement service
  • Access the VC Appliance:SSH using root credentials.
  • Check Service Status: Verify the current status of the services to confirm if vmware-trustmanagement is stopped:
    Bash

    service-control --status vmware-trustmanagement

  • Start the Service: If the service is stopped, run the following command to start it:
    Bash

    service-control --start vmware-trustmanagement

  • Verify: Wait for the command to complete and ensure the service shows as "Running."
  • Retry Configuration: Return to the VCF Operations UI and re-attempt the Embedded VCF SSO configuration.
