Issue/Introduction

No error messages noted as the marked VMs were created by vRA with no prices as seen below:

From the aria logs the below error messages are noted.
logs/adapters/CASAdapter/CASAdapter_######.log
YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS ERROR [Collector worker thread 1] (######) com.vmware.adapter#.cas.CASAdapter.updateMeteringPolicyPropertyOnSpecificResource - Exception in updating policy assignments in vRops
com.vmware.ops.api.client.exceptions.ServerException: Internal Server error, cause unknown.

Restarting the collector fails to resolve the pricing issue.

Basic Charges in the VC Pricing section of the relevant policies are NOT set with a factor of 0 and ensuring it is enable as shown below does not fix it:

Either does changing the cost calculation time to either 18:00 or 0:00:

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Cause

Configuration issue with the metering policies which is by design.

Resolution

Proceeding with vCenter pricing, the below steps are recommended:

  1. Delete vRA pricing cards from vRA screen (vRA -> Assembler -> pricing cards) if present.
  2. Run the command: GET API /suite-api/internal/metering to get the id and then delete these metering policies using DELETE API /suite-api/internal/metering using id.

Additional Information

Aria Operations does not calculate pricing for vCenter VMs
