Issue/Introduction

Tasks in WinPE may time-out or fail for computers with a record in the console but set to unmanaged

The issue has been observed when custom cleanup scripts are used to remove inventory and set managed status to 0 for computer records in the console

The unmanaged flag may also be set after removing the Symantec Management Agent or running a standalone inventory package on an unmanaged machine

Environment

ITMS 8.x

Deployment Solution 8.x

Cause

The automation agent (Pectagent) in a preboot environment fails to report proper basic inventory for computer resources set to IsManaged = 0 in RM_ResourceComputer or RM_ResourceVirtual_Machine SQL tables

Resolution

Broadcom Developers are working on a fix for the Pectagent and expect the issue to be resolved in ITMS/DS 8.8.1

The issue is very uncommon but can be resolved manually by setting the 'IsManaged' flag to 1, deleting the computer record from the console before booting to WinPE, or booting to Windows first and allowing the agent to update it's record.

Refer to KB181680 for query examples for the 'IsManaged' flag
