Unable to update Cloud Director Certificate due to ERROR - No route to host (Host unreachable)

Issue/Introduction

Error in UI when modifying certificate.

[ ########-####-####-####-############ ] Failed to establish a JMX connection to: service:jmx:rmi:///jndi/rmi://[Cell IP]:8999/jmxrmi - Failed to retrieve RMIServer stub: javax.naming.CommunicationException [Root exception is java.rmi.ConnectIOException: Exception creating connection to: [Cell IP]; nested exception is: java.io.IOException: java.net.NoRouteToHostException: No route to host (Host unreachable)]

Error also seen in the following logs on other cells - /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/logs/vcloud-container-debug.log

Environment

Cloud Director 10.6

Cause

Certificate update check is failing due to check going to other cells, rather than the intended cell.

Resolution

Workaround:

Perform certificate update on cells while other cells are down.

Example on three cell environment:

1. Stop vmware-vcd service on Cell 02 and cell 03, update certificate for Cell 01

2. Start vmware-vcd service on Cell 02, stop vmware-vcd service on Cell 01, update certificate for Cell 02.

3. Start vmware-vcd service on Cell 03, stop vmware-vcd service on Cell 02, update certificate for Cell 03.
