Not all UIM alarms are sent to DXOI

Issue/Introduction

Not all UIM alarms are sent to DXOI, we are seeing many alarms not inserted into DXO2. 

Some alarms are sent to the DXO2 some others are not visible. 

We are seeing alarms being mirrored randomly from DXUIM to DXO2 of the same server, from the same probe and same day.

The total number of alarms in DX UIM differs considerably from the alarms visible in DXO2.

What may be causing this issue?

Environment

• DX UIM 23.4.*
• DXO2 on prem/Saas
• oi_connector 2.*

 

Cause

Configuration key may create this issue. oi_connector considers alarms as "raw alarms" if there is no correlation of the alarm to active metrics UIM. The probe has the capability for filtering out the alarms that are considered "raw alarms" with a key:

• raw alarms are discarded:  ingest_raw_alarm_to_oi = false

• raw alarms are received: ingest_raw_alarm_to_oi = true

If ingest_raw_alarm_to_oi = false, alarms with no metric associated to it are discarded and not mirrored. 

Resolution

To ensure all alarms, including the "raw alarms", are pushed from DX UIM to DXO2 set the key: 

ingest_raw_alarm_to_oi = true
