Resource Department OBS update reverts back

Issue/Introduction

When trying to update the Resource Department OBS field on the Resource properties page, the Department value reverts back to the previously saved value. Why is this? 

Environment

Any supported Clarity release

Cause

The Resource Department OBS field is tied to its financial properties and the new Department value provided is not linked to the previously saved Department Location

Resolution

Verify the current entity Department and Location OBS and the relationship between Departments and Locations.

Classic PPM > Administration > Finance > Setup > Organization Structure > Locations

Check the Resource Financial Properties and look at the Financial Department and Financial location set

On this page you can only save a combination of Department and Locations that do have a link between them

Check the Department you want to update on the Resource Main Properties page

On this page you can select any Department OBS that belongs to the Financial Entity. However, only Departments that have a link to the pre-existing Financial Location will save. If the newly added Department does not have a link to the Financial Location, the value will revert back
