Issue/Introduction

Spectrum is receiving a lot of unneeded events from VNA for the Viptela plugin.

Environment

Spectrum, all supported versions
Virtual Network Assurance, all supported versions.

Cause

These events and alarms are legitimately coming from Viptela

Resolution

Evaluate which events are needed from Viptela (if any)
Evaluate which alarms are needed from Viptela
Configure a Notification Filter accordingly

If it is determined that you only need the alarms and no events, stop event polling at the plugin level:

  • POLL_EVENTS
Specifies whether the plug-in polls Events.
    Values:
    -- true:
    The plug-in polls Events
    --
    false:
The plug-in does not poll Events.

    -- Default:
    false

Additional Information

Additionally, you can create Threshold Profiles in Performance Management (PM) based on the collected performance metrics, which when PM is integrated with Spectrum creates alarms in Spectrum.
