Issue/Introduction

Received an alert saying “Vulnerable software installed: Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 17.8.6. Can Gen 8.6 Visual studio be upgraded to the latest version? As per Gen tech docs it say Visual studio 2022 is the supported version for Gen 8.6 so can Visual studio 2022 supported version be updated to  latest 2026 version?

Resolution

Visual Studio 2026 is not supported (currently). The solution for Gen 8.6 is to patch Visual Studio 2022. The current secure version is 17.14.24 (as of January 22, 2026).
