Issue/Introduction

Symptoms :

  • The VCF 9.0 deployment validation fails during ESX Host vSAN HCL Compatibility with below error.

ESX Host is not HCL compatible.
0 Host test.com is not HCL compatible.
Remediation: Please check the logs for further details or check Broadcom Compatibility Guide at https://compatibilityguide.broadcom.com

Environment

VCF 9.x

Cause

The Physical Hardware used for VCF 9.x is not supported as per Broadcom Compatibility Guide : https://compatibilityguide.broadcom.com

Example :

The PowerEdge XR4510C Hardware used for vSAN ESA is only certified till ESXi 8.0 U3 (vSAN  8.0 Update 3). Hence the VCF deployment validation failed during ESX Host vSAN HCL Compatibility.

Refer Broadcom compatibility guide for PowerEdge XR4510C

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure the hardware environment meets the requirements for VCF 9.X.

  • Verify the server model and components on the Broadcom Compatibility Guide.

  • If the hardware is not listed for ESXi 9.0, you must use supported hardware to proceed with a VCF 9.0 deployment.

  • If the hardware is supported but still failing, ensure the vSAN HCL database is up to date, see Additional Information KB reference for more details.
