VMware Live Recovery

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • While initiating the VLCR DR TEST failover using the SvMotion option, the VM fails to power on and the following error is noticed at the recovery SDDC vCenter.

Error: Unable to enumerate all disks. A required file was not found.

  • Disk under the VM Settings shows 0 MB

Environment

VMware Live Cyber Recovery 7.28.

VMware Live Cyber Recovery 9.0.0.11

Cause

vSAN VC Snap is being skipped during a VLCR DR TEST failover. But the information about the disks used is missing during the relocation of the VM from SCFS to the VSAN datastore, which causes an inconsistency in bringing up the recovered VM.

Resolution

Workaround solution :

1. During the test recovery use "Run VMs live on cloud file system."

2. Use the recovery SDDC and migrate the recovered VM from the cloud file system to the vSAN datastore.

3. Clean up the test recovery on the VLCR, once the VM testing is complete.

Permanent Solution:

The permanent solution is to upgrade the VLCR to V28M1.
