Setting up NSX backup server fails: Configured fingerprint did not match. Error 29004

Issue/Introduction

The following banner is seen when configuring SFTP backups in NSX:

Error: Configured fingerprint did not match fileserver sftp://...   (Error code: 29004)

Cause

The SSH fingerprint entered in the field is not correct.

Resolution

Leave the fingerprint field blank, and after completing the wizard a new fingerprint should be generated and presented (which can either be accepted or rejected) for the connection.
