Unlike other VMware products such as vCenter Server, the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Usage Meter appliance does not feature a built-in, native backup and restore function (e.g., file-based backup via Management Interface).
VCF Usage Meter 9.0.x
Usage Meter is designed to upload collected usage data to the VCF Business Service Console (BSC), which maintains the master record in the cloud. Consequently, the appliance itself does not include internal database backup mechanisms or native scheduling for configuration exports to external storage at this moment.
Since there is no backup and restore solution equivalent to that of vCenter Server, administrators must utilize
a snapshot via the vSphere Client prior to performing upgrades or significant configuration changes.
This allows for an immediate roll-back if issues arise during the process.
Note:
To maintain optimal VM performance, snapshots should be deleted as soon as the configuration change is confirmed successful and the system is stable.
As noted in the official documentation, do not revert back to the previous version after the version upgrade is successfully completed.
