Issue/Introduction

VMware Aria Automation builds fail to deploy, and associated AWS Cloud Accounts display a warning status in the user interface. When attempting to validate the Cloud Account credentials, the system returns a failure to validate credentials error. This issue typically stems from permissions being rejected during the authentication handshake between Aria Automation and the AWS endpoint.

Environment

  • Product: VMware Aria Automation

  • Cloud Provider: Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Cause

The issue is caused by invalid, expired, or rotated AWS credentials (Access Key ID and Secret Access Key) configured within the Cloud Account settings.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must update the AWS Cloud Account with valid credentials:

  1. Log in to your AWS Management Console and generate or retrieve a valid Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.

  2. In the VMware Aria Automation UI, navigate to Infrastructure > Cloud Accounts.

  3. Select the AWS Cloud Account showing the warning.

  4. Replace the existing credentials with the updated Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.

  5. Click Validate to confirm the credentials are accepted.

  6. Click Save to apply the changes.
