Issue/Introduction

Below symptoms could be seen post upgrade to VCF 9.0.1

  • IO devices are not reachable from vPLC vms.
  • "insufficient bandwidth / duplex on all ports" observed on vPLCs.
  • Profinet Connectivity is broken for physical devices and virtual devices
  • IO devices are not seen on node list (nsxdp-cli ens prp node list)

Environment

VMware NSX

Cause

Underlying physical connectivity between IO device and vPLC vm

Resolution

  • Make sure that there is no physical connectivity issues between IO devices and ESXi hosts where vPLC vms resides
  • Take packet captures on associated ESXi vmnics where vPLC vms resides to confirm if we see any packets from the IO devices
  • Reference: Troubleshooting NSX using Packet Captures
Note: Make sure that we have below advanced configuration on the .vmx file of vPLC vms to be able to support higher speed

ethernet1.linkspeed = "10000000"

ethernet2.linkspeed = "10000000"
