Issue/Introduction

While uploading an OVA/OVF to a catalog in VMware Cloud Director, you may encounter an error similar to:
“Either you need some or all of the following rights [CATALOG_VIEW] to perform operations [CATALOG_VIEW] for ###-###-###, or the target entity is invalid.”

 

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.x

Cause

This issue occurs when the default rights bundle is missing the required permission “View Compute Policies for an Organization VDC.”

Resolution

To resolve the issue and grant the necessary permissions, follow these steps:

1. Log in to provider portal as system administrator.

2. Select the default right bundle by following the DOC

3. Use the filter to locate:
“View Shared Compute Policy Implies Rights (1): View Compute Policies for an Organization VDC.”

4. Select the permission and save the changes.

5. Publish the updated rights bundle to the relevant organizations.
