Issue/Introduction

When attempting to run the Add vRA Host workflow in VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator to add a host object, the workflow fails during execution. You may observe this issue even if the credentials provided are valid and have the necessary administrative roles.

The following error is displayed in the workflow logs: Failed to get VMware Cloud Foundation Automation refresh token. Invalid VMware Cloud Foundation Automation credentials provided.

Environment

  • Product: VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0
  • Component: VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator
  • Plug-in: VCF Automation (vRA) Plug-in

Cause

This issue occurs if the Host URL provided during the workflow input contains a trailing forward slash (/) at the end of the hostname or FQDN.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, run the workflow again ensuring the URL format is correct:

  1. Log in to the VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator Client.
  2. Navigate to Library > Workflows and search for the Add vRA host workflow.
  3. Click Run.
  4. In the Host URL field, enter the URL without a trailing slash.
    • Example: https://vcloud-automation-01.example.com
  5. Complete the remaining tabs (User credentials, etc.) and click Run.
