Issue/Introduction

When attempting to access a Tenant Portal as a System Administrator via the VMware Cloud Director Provider UI, you may be redirected to the Tenant login page and prompted for credentials.

This occurs instead of the expected seamless SSO flow. The Public URL in the Tenant details displays an IP address instead of a Fully Qualified Domain Name.

Environment

  • 10.3
  • 10.4
  • 10.5
  • 10.6

Cause

The Public Addresses in the VCD System Settings are configured with an IP address. For correct session management and token authentication across the Load Balancer VIP, the Public Addresses must be configured with the valid FQDN that matches the SSL certificate and Load Balancer configuration.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, update the Public Addresses to use the Load Balancer VIP FQDN.

  1. Log in to the VCD Provider UI as a System Administrator.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Settings > Public Addresses.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Update the URLs to the correct Load Balancer VIP FQDN.
  5. Retry accessing the Tenant Portal to verify the session persists correctly.
