Issue/Introduction

  • Importing OVA/OVF failed with the following error in /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/logs/vcloud-container-debug.log file : /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/data/transfer/#####/#####-disk1.vmdk] does not exist

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6

Cause

This issue can occur if a disk size is specified as ovf:size="0" in the OVF descriptor file being uploaded.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure the ovf:size parameter in the <References> section of the OVF descriptor file matches the actual size of the VMDK file(s) in bytes, for example:

    <ovf:File ovf:href="disk1.vmdk" ovf:id="disk1" ovf:size="####"></ovf:File>

To check the actual file size, execute the dir command.
Below is an output example for a virtual disk test.vmdk (682510336 bytes)
   C:\###>dir /-C test.vmdk
   mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm 682510336 test.vmdk
