Cannot power on VM in VMware Cloud Director with Platform Config Fault returned

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to power on a virtual machine in VMware Cloud Director the operation will fail after some time with:
Error:  Platform config fault reported by vCenter Server. Platform Config fault occurred. An error occurred during host configuration. vCenter Server task (moref: task-#######) failed in vCenter Server '#########' (###############################)."  

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

There is a NSX issue between NSX, vCenter, and ESXi. The issue is outside of VMware Cloud Director and is a platform configuration problem.

Resolution

Verify there are no errors and certificates are up to date between NSX, vCenter, and ESXi following:
Host Transport Nodes in Install Failed state with error "Failed to send HostConfig RPC to MPA" and "Certificate validation failed: 18-self signed certificate"
