While VLR has a built-in option for testing failover, some users would like to check failover functionality with the site isolation.
VMware Live Recovery 9.x
1. Verify following conditions:
- Are SRM pairs connected ?
- Are protection groups and recovery plan which you want failover displaying any errors?
- Are vms under the PG and RP display any errors?
- Under SRA pairs check for errors.
- Click on "Discover devices" under SRA pairs and confirm that none of the luns display status. "unknown" or "in progress".
- Check if network mappings are set correctly
2. Isolation and disaster recovery.
- Site where you would like to recover vms need to have connection to local VC , esxi hosts and physical storage.
- Connect to prod SRM (https://Recovery_SRM_IP/dr), chose recovery plan and run failover with "disaster recovery" option.
- After vms are started on the Prod site remove site isolation.
- Once SRM sites are connected you can do "Reprotect". That will create placeholders on DR site.
