Issue/Introduction

  • On the vCenter UI, below error is seen while configuring the HA on the cluster:
    • A general system error occurred: Setting solution for image failed.

  • The following messages are displayed for the vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) cluster image:
    • Host is out of compliance with the image.
    • The cluster needs remediation to finish enabling these Solutions: vSphere HA 8.0 Update 3
    • Solution components of disabled Solutions vSphere HA 8.0 Update 3 will be removed from the hosts in the cluster during remediation.

Environment

  • vCenter Server 8.0 Update 3 and later

Cause

From vSphere 8.0 Update 3, vSphere HA is managed as a cluster solution within vLCM. This error occurs when the cluster's desired state image includes the HA component, but the underlying hosts have not yet been remediated to install or update the necessary HA agent software
