Issue/Introduction

  • You are trying to restore a VM with Commvault.
  • During the restoration the vCenter vpxd crashes and creates a dump file under /var/core/core.vpxd-worker.xxx and the VM does not get restored.

Environment

vCenter 8.x

VCF 9.0

Resolution

Workaround:

  • If the VM still appears in VC inventory, unregister the VM (Click "Remove
    from VC inventory")
  • Register the VM back (from vmx file on Datastore) without involving
    Commvault.
