Issue/Introduction

When attempting to push a new image or provisioning an Instant Clone desktop pool in Horizon, you encounter the following symptoms:

  • Image Push Failure: The Instant Clone deployment task fails to complete.

  • Error Message: The Horizon Console or vCenter events log displays the following error:

The object 'vim.dvs.DistributedVirtualPortgroup:dvportgroup-XXXXXX' has already been deleted or has not been completely created::dvportgroup-####not found

Environment

Horizon 8.x
vCenter 8.x

Cause

Horizon is referencing a stale DVS Portgroup ID from its cache instead of the valid MOID from the vCenter MOB. The error occurs because the Network ID assigned to the Golden Image (dvportgroup-####) does not exist in vCenter.

Resolution

To identify the mismatch:

  • Check the dvPort ID for the golden image currently in use. To do this, select the golden image in vCenter and select the Network. You can then find and record the ID directly from the browser's URL.

    Example:

  • If the dvportgroup ID cited in the Horizon error does not match the ID in vCenter, please follow the steps below to synchronize the IDs and ensure Horizon View is referencing the correct port group.

Resolution:

  • Edit Settings on the Golden Image and remove the Network Adapter.

  • Save the settings.

  • Edit Settings again to re-add the Network Adapter, selecting the correct portgroup.
