Issue/Introduction

  • vCenter Server reports the ESXi certificate status as “Expired” even though it is not expired.

  • No certificate expiration–related alarms are triggered.

  • The issue occurs only in the Japanese user interface.

Environment

vCenter Server 7.0

vCenter Server 8.0

Cause

The ESXi certificate status supports some states. In the Japanese UI, the “expiring” status is incorrectly translated as “expired.”

Current Japanese translations:

  • certificate.status.expired = 期限切れ
  • certificate.status.expiring = 期限切れ

As a result, certificates that are approaching expiration are displayed as expired in the Japanese UI.

Expected translation:

  • certificate.status.expiring = 有効期限間近

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 7.0 Update 3q and vCenter Server 8.0 Update 1.

Additional Information

This issue is cosmetic in Japanese UI and does not result in any functional impact.
